gotta love that tramp

charlie chaplin.

the man was a genius. he wrote scripts, composed scores, directed, and acted.
an incredibly funny man who could easily make you cry with the wave of his hand, chaplin redefined cinema.

yes, the mustache was fake, and yes, he was kicked out of the country. don't let that stop you though. in fact, let that encourage you.

though in younger generations it never recieves the respect it deserves, his was the golden age of hollywood.
in fact, chaplin co-founded united artists in 1919 with douglas fairbanks, mary pickford, and d. w. griffith. (more on them in later posts, perhaps.)

despite leading an extraodinarily difficult life, charlie chaplin 'brought pleasure and relief to so many human beings when they needed it most.' to learn more about his life in a painless and enjoyable manner, check out the movie chaplin, which is available free right now on imdb and other websites. also, its robert downey jr. at his very best.
hark! a preview for your viewing pleasure:

anyway, the man is pretty much my hero. he was the king of slapstick, and comedy, and life.

i would higly encourage anyone to learn more about him.

p.s. he was british. that makes him cool, by default.

cheers,

grace

  2. I'm going to be Charlie for Halloween next year. Care to join me, dear one? Since we seem to have made a habit out of spending Halloween together.

Also, you didn't mention the grave-robbing incident. Shame shame.

Also also, he was quite handsome and charming.

Also^3, Even though it was originally Charlie Chaplin who wrote, composed, etc. Smile, almost everybody on youtube seems to think that it was Michael Jackson. Shame on them.

    That's all.

    Love, Mollllllly
